Inclement Weather

This is one of my biggest pet peeves.  Here is the official inclement weather plan.  Please refer to it before you ask a weather-related question.  ALL hikes are scheduled in advance of weather forecasts so the determining forecast will be on the day of and at the scheduled departure time of the hike.  Let me give you an example.  The ONLY time we will CANCEL a hike is (a) storm warnings and or actual storms, especially those with lightening and (b) forecasted continuous rain with rain actually occurring at the time of departure.  Safety is first and foremost.  We have hiked and will, however, hike in just the rain.  Of course the current temperature will also be a deciding factor.  Mainly in the summer months and especially on the Wednesday hikes, we WILL HIKE IN THE RAIN.  That's what rain ponchos were made for!  Life has too many obstacles and we have decided that summer rain will not be one of them.  Let alone we all know how accurate the average weather forecasts can be.  Comfort is an issue though, because we aren't fish no one wants to stay wet all day.   You should plan accordingly for inclement weather hikes and bring a change of dry clothes and a towel.
